Merry Christmas!

I am surprised each year at how quickly Christmas comes.  Every year I promise myself to be more organized to have it all done weeks before the big day, but alas, this never becomes the case.  But this year has been an even faster trip through each day leading to Christmas.  The Spotted Monkey opened its' virtual doors only six weeks ago.  And what a six weeks it has been!

We want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and patronage.  We started The Spotted Monkey because we wanted to provide people with a place they could go to find fun, unique and hard to find items that didn't cost your first born.  Judging by the warm reception and orders that keep coming in, we're on to something!

We have been working to line up some exciting and new products to introduce in the new year, and some that aren't even available in Canada!  The Spotted Monkey will continue to work to bring you what you want and maybe even some things you didn't know you wanted.

From our family to yours, may you have the happiest of holiday seasons.  Wishing you health, happiness and love in 2011.

Merry Christmas,

Tarpy is Coming!

One of my favorite things to do is troll the web in search for new products.  And not just any new product, but one that is kid friendly, mom useful, kind to the environment, unique and not readily available.

Recently I found just such a product.  And it is Tarpy.  Tarpy is an eco-friendly splat mat with a wide variety of functions - dinner time, craft time, picnic time, play time, you name it!  It is compact, nice looking and most importantly, the saver of floors.

Tonya from Tarpy and I decided that it was high time Canadians were given the opportunity to get their hands on such an amazing product.  So, I am happy to announce that The Spotted Monkey will be the very first retailer of Tarpy in Canada.  They are on their way as we speak (or type) so keep an eye out.  You'll want one of these, trust me.

Pregnant Chicken

When I became pregnant with my daughter, I started to read Mommy blogs.  And when I started to read Mommy blogs, I was blown away by how many there are out there.  There is a blog for every style of Mom.  And while I was always looking for information, I was also looking for fantastic writing.  That narrowed the field down considerably.

One of my findings was Pregnant Chicken.  I have followed this blog faithfully since becoming a Mom.  Amy is the creative genius behind it, and I find her writing sharp, witty and informative.  So imagine my amazed delight when Amy contacted me because she was a fan of The Spotted Monkey.  Fantastic!

Amy has written about The Spotted Monkey on her blog, and it's incredible.  We've even decided to team up and do our first giveaway for one of Pregnant Chicken's fans.

So check out Amy's thoughts, enter to win and become a fan of one of my favorite Mommy blogs.

Enjoy your weekend,

We've had our first product review!

Celia from Smookie Style took some time to review part of our debut hat collection.  Celia is a stay at home mom with a wonderful blog she pens about her daughter and products she finds both interesting and useful.  Plus she has some great giveaways, so take a peek.

Week in Review

This week has flown by!  So before we start another week, I thought I'd share some updates with you from The Spotted Monkey.

The newsletter is coming along and we can't wait to get it in place.  When it's ready, don't miss out on signing up - there will be a sale code attached.  We're also working on a new Gallery component, so we'll be able to showcase all the little monkeys.  Send in your pictures to customerservice@thespottedmonkey.com and then check the Gallery to see your little one in lights.

The Spotted Monkey will also be having some product reviews done.  By some great Mom bloggers.  And we are so excited!  Stay tuned and we'll post the reviews and their links here.

Gearing up for another week of monkey business.

Happy Monday

It has been an amazing few days. On Friday we launched our website (hurray!) and on Sunday we took part in the Pamper Me Senseless Gala.  The PMS Show is an annual women's cancer fundraiser and this year we attended as vendors rather than participants.  And what a time it was!  We were so fortunate to connect with so many people and even more fortunate to do so at such a fantastic venue.  Stay tuned....pictures will follow.

While we were able to open our virtual doors on Friday, it wasn't without a few bugs to work out.  We are happy to announce that all checkout options are now available, and that you no longer need to confirm your registration prior to completing your purchase.  We hope this makes things more streamline and user friendly when shopping The Spotted Monkey.

And we hope to have our newsletter ready to receive sign up in the next week.  Once that gets going, you're not going to want to miss joining our mailing list to be the first to know about sales.  Plus, there will be coupon codes and contests that only our Monkey Mail subscribers will know about.

Wishing you a fabulous week!

Gearing Up

We have a big weekend ahead of us.  Not only are we finishing up the website to launch, but we are participating in our first show.  The KW Mom Show is happening this Sunday from 10am to 5pm.  We are so excited to be participating.  Not only is this the first show ever for The Spotted Monkey, but we will also have the chance to connect with some amazing people - new customers, fans and other mom-preneurs.

We hope you get the chance to swing by on Sunday.  We are looking forward to meeting so many people.  And if you bring a donation for the local food bank, your admission is free.

So stop by, say hi, and take advantage of some concentrated early Christmas shopping (it is only 6 weeks away).

Looking forward to meeting you,

Monkey Business

This past week has been an exciting week full of revisions for our website.  And now they are complete!

With some programming and uploading left to do, The Spotted Monkey™ is finally planning our grand opening.

We have had some bumps along the way, but the newest chapter in our story is about to unfold.  While we are working on the final touches of what we hope will be a site you will love as much as we do, we thought we would take this opportunity to tell you a little bit more about us.

The Spotted Monkey™ was initially inspired by two little beings known as Bug and Monkey.  We are a mother and daughter team who know the importance of finding unique, fun and fantastic items.  We have searched high and low for amazing products to offer, and will continue to keep up with the children's market to ensure we are bringing you the best of the best.

We offer a selection of green goods and companies to choose from, as well as a variety of award winning, exclusive, handcrafted, handmade and mom-preneur products.

We will be announcing our launch date this week, so stay tuned for some monkey business!
